Ronaldo walks out of CL press conference

Cristiano Ronaldo angrily walked out of the press conference ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League clash against Roma when a journalist asked about his recent goal scoring record away from the Bernabeu.

When asked why he had not scored away from home since Real’s 2-0 win at Eibar on November 29, the Champions League‘s all-time leading goal scorer replied with his own question for the reporter and assembled media.

“Who else has scored more goals away from home than me since I arrived in Spain?” asked the Portuguese, continuing: “Name one player who has scored more than me?”

NO ANSWER

Showing he is as sharp in front of the press as he is in front of goal and as contemptuous of irreverent reporters as he is as ruthless with weak defenders, Ronaldo continued and saved the hacks the trouble of Googling: “No answer? ” he said. “Ok. Thank you everyone.”

And that was it as far as he was concerned. CR7 got up, excused himself for the rest of the press conference and made his departure.

CL Hot tip – Ronaldo to score tonight v Roma

The encounter will have fired up Ronaldo even more than normal and he is set to be extra determined – which tipsters may discern as destined – to step up and prove his greatness yet again.

Hammering one into the Roma net to hammer home to the particular journalist and anyone else with the temerity to question anything he does on the football pitch will be a most eloquent answer.

Fans, online bettors and football tipsters will be tuning in to hear and see how Ronaldo replies while the whole saga is sore news for Roma who are already facing one of the game’s most prolific and deadliest marksmen of all time, only now he has something else to prove – again.

Furthermore, Roma could well be the perfect opponents for Ronaldo to end his away goal-scoring mini-drought – they shipped 16 goals in the group stage of this season’s CL, more than any other side in the last 16.

RONALDO’S RECORD IS PEERLESS

Ronaldo has scored 88 goals in 121 Champions League games – more than anyone else in history. This season he scored 11 in the CL group stage to become the first player ever to manage the feat and break that all time record too. In all competitions this season he has scored 32 goals – 11 of which were away from the Bernabeu. But not even his unbelievable strike rate for Real makes Ronaldo immune from criticism, such is the nature of the modern game. And the criticism is increasing as the number of away games in which he fails to score grows – he has played in four since his goal against Eibar.

HOPES ‘BAD’ FORM CONTINUES

“It’s understandable that people have doubts,” said Ronaldo before his walkout. “It’s like with a son when you give him everything and then when you take it away, he cries.”I hope I can keep this ‘bad form’ up until the season’s end.”
