It’s been a great season for Watford so far, and the Hornets currently sit in eleventh, eight points clear of the relegation zone, which is surely coach Quique Flores’ objective come the end of the season. United, despite criticism regarding their playing style, sit in fourth, just two points behind joint leaders Manchester City and Arsenal. Manchester City v Liverpool Saturday 21/11/15 at 17.30 GMT
The biggest game on paper this weekend is at the Etihad stadium where top-of-the-table Manchester City entertain Jurgen Klopp’s tenth-place Liverpool. The German boss will be keen to banish memories of his side’s defeat last time out at home to Crystal Palace, his first defeat since taking over as Reds boss. It could be a tale of two returning strikers Saturday teatime as both City’s Sergio Aguero and Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge could make long awaited returns. It’s pretty good news all round for City on the injury front as skipper Vincent Kompany and key creative force David Silva could also be available, although the latter may have to be happy with a place on the bench. Both sides have lengthy queues for the treatment table at present, so such a high intensity game may not be what the doctor ordered, but for fans it’s a mouth-watering prospect – 23 goals have been scored in the last six meetings between these sides, although with City boasting the second meanest defence currently in the league, and Liverpool slightly struggling for goals, a high-scoring thriller may be unlikely this time out, although City have also scored a league high 26 goals to date. Tottenham V West Ham, Sunday 22/11/15 at 16.00 GMT
It’s an intense London derby at White Hart Lane on Sunday as a young Tottenham side will look to protect an 11 match unbeaten run against a high flying West Ham who will be missing their star performer Dimitri Payet, whose ankle injury will keep the Frenchman out for a lengthy spell. However, there’s better news for the Hammers in that Sunday could spell returns for Alex Song, Diafra Sakho and Pedro Obiang. Spurs could be without Erik Lamela, who picked up a muscle injury whilst training with Argentina, but Mousa Dembele should be fit to play after a calf problem. Last season in the same fixture, Spurs were rescued by late goals from Danny Rose and an in-form Harry Kane, whose penalty six minutes into injury time secured a 2-2 draw. Spurs haven’t won at home against their great rivals since 2012, a run which spans back four matches, although the home side will be buoyed by their recent form as well as their young English charges performances for England on Tuesday night, where Dele Alli in particular excelled.
