Wolfsburg – Bayern Match Preview

Wolfsburg – Bayern Match Preview

Wolfsburg are second behind league leaders Bayern and would like to solidify this position throughout the second half of the season. If they succeed then Champions League qualification will be very likely, especially if they manage to maintain their form of late. Bayern on the other hand, have not lost a match so far and only conceded 4 goals in the first half of the season. They are 11 points clear on top of the table heading to the “Rückrunde” conscious they can extend this gap with a win against Wolfsburg. Expect Bayern to dominate the game from the outset and Wolfsburg to fight hard to keep the game within range.

Maximilian Arnold will most likely start in central midfield, as Josuha Guilavogui is out injured whereas one in-between Vierinha and Daniel Caligiuri will be competing for a starting spot on the right wing. Up front, Bas Dost could keep his spot ahead of Ivica Olic and Nicklas Bendtner. For Bayern, Dante will probably start at centre-back, with Mehdi Benatia sitting on the bench. Sebastian Rode could get a chance at right-back, as both Philipp Lahm and Rafinha are out injured. At left-back, David Alaba is fit again and is an option to replace Juan Bernat.

The probable formations:

Wolfsburg (4.2.3.1) Benaglio, Jung, Naldo, Knoche, Rodrguez, Arnold, Gustavo, Vierinha, Bruyne, Perisic and Dost.

Bayern Munich (4.2.3.1) Neuer, Rode, Boateng, Dante, Bernat, Alonso, Schweinsteiger, Robben, Muller, Gotze and Lewandowski.
