Stoke City vs Tottenham Match Preview 07/05/2015

Stoke City host Tottenham this Saturday afternoon in their penultimate match at the Britannia Stadium in the 2014/15 season. It was seven years ago this week that The Potters were promoted to The Premier League after finishing as Championship runners up and a win over Spurs will equal their biggest ever points tally in the top division and keep them on course for their highest ever finish.

Stoke haven’t been in the best of form over the past few weeks and will be hoping to bounce back from their 2-0 loss to Swansea last weekend. Spurs have had an underwhelming season by their standards and wont relish travelling to the Potteries in one of their final games. They almost certainly ended their chances of a top four finish after the 1-0 loss to Man City last weekend but will be aware that anything can happen in the final few fixtures as long as they win all of their own games.

Team News

Stoke City will be without the suspended Marc Wilson after he was given his marching orders in the game against Swansea, whilst Victor Moses and Bojan Krkic remain side-lined and Geoff Cameron could be a late decider after picking up a hamstring injury. The visitors remain without Ben Davies and Kyle Walker, but otherwise have no new injury concerns ahead of the clash.

Stats

Just four places and eleven points separate these two teams in the Premier League table. Last time these two teams met was November last year when Stoke walked out 2-1 winners.

Since Stoke’s promotion to the Premier League seven years ago, Spurs have lost to them just four times, three of those losses were at the Britannia Stadium and all ended 2-1.

Prediction

The Potters haven’t been as formidable at The Britannia this season and will be looking end the season better than they began it. Spurs haven’t traveled well this campaign and this could be the difference.

Stoke City 2-1 Tottenham

Odds: Stoke 9/5, Draw 12/5, Tottenham 7/5
