PSG – Chelsea Match Preview
PSG were held to a 2-2 draw by Caen in the Ligue 1 on Saturday and come into this Champions League clash with Chelsea with an excessive amount of injury concerns. The Parisian side were left down to 9 men in the final minutes of the match and this could mean that Laurent Blanc will be without a number of key men for the clash against the Blues. Laurent Blanc has a raft of injury concerns coming into the Champions League tie with Chelsea. PSG’s manager is agonizing over the fitness of Yohan Cabaye, Serge Aurier, Lucas Moura, Marquinhos, Blaise Matuidi and Javier Pastore but Edinson Cavani, who was an unused sub in the 2-2 draw with Caen, is expected to come back into the starting XI, as are Thiago Motta and Adrien Rabiot. After being knocked out of the FA Cup by Bradford last month, Chelsea have been able to take a small break form matches and will look to capitalise on the extra rest. Jose Mourinho could have the luxury of a fully fit squad to select from, which will be a boost for the Portuguese manager. The only player that won’t be available for the London team’s trip to Paris is John Obi Mikel and Kurt Zouma is expected to keep his place alongside John Terry at the heart of the Chelsea defence. Diego Costa should make his first start for the Blues since the Capital One Cup win over Liverpool last month and even if PSG are yet to lose a competitive game at the Parc des Princes this season, the best football predictions might tip Chelsea as favourites to secure a win in the French capital even if they will more probably play for a draw with an away goal!
