Known as Der Klassiker, Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund is the biggest game on the German league calendar and this Sunday the two go head to head in their first league meeting of the season at the Allianz Arena.

LEWANDOWSKI UNSTOPPABLE AS BAYERN TAKE FLIGHT

Ten goals in three games has propelled Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski into the media spotlight. Five goals in nine minutes after coming on as a substitute in the recent home game against Wolfsburg was simply astonishing and it even left his coach Pep Guardiola completely lost for words. The big Polish striker helped himself to another three in midweek as DinamoZagreb were thrashed 5-0 on matchday two of the Champions League. The reigning champions are on a roll domestically too, having won their last eight consecutive Bundesliga matches, scoring at least two goals in each of them. The best online betting sites are offering odds of *3.350 on Guardiola’s side keeping their excellent run going from an Asian Handicap of -2.0

DORTMUND LOOK TO AUBAMEYANG

Borussia Dortmund also have their own (not so) secret weapon for Sunday in the shape of Gabon striker Pierre-EmerickAubameyang. The 26-year-old has already knocked in nine goals in seven Bundesliga appearances this season and it will be vital for the visitors that he has an influential game on Sunday. Thomas Tuchel’s side are still unbeaten domestically this season, but their performances of late have been less than convincing in consecutive 1-1 draws away to Hoffenheim and home to Darmstadt. Goals always seem to be on the menu when Tuchel’s team are involved however, with over 2.5 scored in eight of their last nine Bundesliga matches. If you think this may happen again on Sunday, the best sport betting sites will only offer you odds of *1.57 on there being more than 2.5 scored at the Allianz Arena.

TEAM NEWS

Guardiola has injury worries ahead of the big game with Chilean Arturo Vidal, Dutchman Arjen Robben and Sebastian Rode all doubtful for Sunday. With Holger Badstuber, Franck Ribéry and Mehdi Benatia still on the treatment table, the champions will be anxious that at least one of the trio is available to play. World Cup Final goalscorerMario Götze could deputise if Vidal is unavailable and Javi Martinez could once again start in central defence with David Alaba moving to left-back.

Tuchel could name an unchanged side for Sunday’s trip to Bavaria, sticking to his tried and trusted 4-1-4-1 system. He may have a choice to make at centre-half between Sokratisand Neven Subotic and he will also have some exceptional talent on the bench in the shape of former Manchester United midfielder Adnan Januzaj.

PROBABLE STARTING XI’S

Bayern Munich (4-3-3) Neuer; Alaba, Boateng, Martinez, Lahm; Vidal, Xabi Alonso, Alcántara; Costa, Lewandowski, Müller

Borussia Dortmund (4-1-4-1) Bürki; Schmelzer, Hummels, Sokratis, Ginter; Weigl; Mkhitaryan, Kagawa, Gündogan, Reus; Aubameyang

HEAD TO HEAD

In the last 10 meetings between the two in Munich, Bayern have five wins, Dortmund three and there have been two draws. Last season’s corresponding fixture ended in a narrow 2-1 win for Guardiola’s team when a goal from Lewandowski followed by a penalty from Robben cancelled out Marco Reus’s opener. There hasn’t been a 0-0 draw in this fixture when played in Bavaria since October 1996. The betting exchanges are offering odds of *17.00 for the scoresheet to remain blank.
