Tramore Racecourse
Tramore Racecourse is a sharp, undulating, right handed track. There is a deep descent approaching the final bend and a sharp climb uphill from the final turn to the winning post. It is a dual purpose course which accommodates both flat and Jump racing and is listed as a grade two course in stature.
This oval circuit is about a mile in circumference and there are no attached chutes to the main course. It is quite a unique course given its overall characteristics and including the fact it is the only one mile circuit going right handed in Ireland.
Surprisingly, they only hold one flat meeting per season, although they held more flat racing days in 2014 with three meetings. It’s a popular venue amongst tourist and racegoers, with their man festival occurring in the month of August over a four day period, three of which is raced during the evening and the final day of racing taking place during afternoon hours.
Another surprising anomaly is that they only currently have races that are run over two sets of distances, one being over a mile and a half the other over two miles. There is no draw bias worth noting or apparent from the very limited data available.
Despite the fact that there is currently only one flat meeting a year, there is still one trainer that has a very decent win strike rate in specific circumstances, that being the yard of John Oxx as the record below shows.

Additional note; Although these races are open to older horses (As indicated by the + sign in the race type column) as well as three year olds, it transpires that all the yards runners to date at the track for this specific type of event were aged three at the time. Furthermore, in four of the last five seasons the stable have recorded a 100% win strike rate, with the exception being in 2009 where they recorded a 50% win strike rate.
