The hurdle track has seven hurdles whilst there are eleven fences on the chase circuit. Races over rtwo miles and four furlongs start from an extended chute. The fences are some of the smallest in the country but they are fairly stiff and compact so still requires a horse to jump well throughout. There is a steep downhill section on the very long back straight before they reach a very long upward climb before reaching the final turn and into the home straight.
The main feature race is the Haldon Gold Cup Chase is a grade two handicap run over is run over two miles and one a half furlongs and takes place in the first week in November each year. It’s a race where horses use as a stepping stone or have aspirations to become a future champion chase winner.
The only other pattern race held at the venue is a listed race for novices now known as the 188bet novice hurdle and is run over two miles and one a half furlongs and takes place in the middle of February.
Further below are some trainer angles for your consideration at the venue.
Please note: Profit and Loss figures (P/L) is based on level stakes betting of one Euro per bet to SP.
Trainer: H Farry
Race Type: Non Handicap Hurdle (Novice in status)
Bets: 23 Wins: 11 Strike Rate: 47.83% P/L+42.63
Additional note; A very impressive win strike rate with a great return to level stakes. To increase profits I would focus my attention on class races from three to four as that is where all the winners have come from with no exceptions.
Trainer: R Walford
Race Type: Handicap Chase (Not Novice in status)
Bets: 24 Wins: 8 Strike Rate: 33.33% P/L+21.75
Additional note; A trainer that goes under the radar as he is not what you would consider a high profile trainer, that said, he performs well with his runners in the above circumstances. To increase profits, again focus in class three to four races, the latter having the slight edge performance wise.
